			<title>Paulerspury Parish Website</title>
			<link>http://paulerspury.org/content/view/20/33/</link>
			<description>Welcome to Paulerspury.org

The Parish of Paulerspury, in South Northamptonshire, is made up of Paulerspury, Pury End and Heathencote. Paulerspury is a small parish of around 1000 inhabitants with a thriving community, situated 2 miles from Towcester, 12 miles from Milton Keynes and 12 miles from Northampton.

Paulerspury.org is a fledgling website which we hope will become a key resource of information for the local people of Paulerspury. Members of Paulerspury Parish Council are currently working with a local resident to expand the site which was launched at the end of January 2008.

Our aim is for anyone with an interest in Paulerspury Parish to have control of a category. For instance, if you look at the menu on the left you will see under churches we have listed St James The Great Church and United Reform Chapel. The vicar would have total control of keeping the Church&amp;rsquo;s information up to date &amp;ndash; i.e. services etc.

Please get in touch via &amp;lsquo;Contact Us&amp;rsquo; (top right) if you would like to manage a category.

Read on to find out what Paulerspury has to offer

Paulerspury Primary School caters for children aged 4 to 11. Staff provide a balanced curriculum to prepare the children for senior school, and the parents&amp;rsquo; association, Friends of Paulerspury School, plays its part to help make the school a success.

Paulerspury Pre-School takes children from the age of 2 years with sessions held in the Village Hall.

Click on Education for further info. (on left hand menu)

The Paulerspury Horticultural Society and Good Neighbours Club meet once a month, the Short Mat Bowls Club weekly and a Bell Ringing Practice is held at St James The Great on Monday evenings.

We have an amateur dramatics society, The Paulerspury Players, which presents a pantomime every February, a play in October and occasional shows throughout the year, usually at Paulerspury Village hall.

Village events include a Jumble Sale in March and Summer Fete in June with proceeds to St James the Great Church. A Bi-annual Flower Festival is held at the church and The Horticultural Society stage an Annual Flower Show on the first Saturday in August.

Many of these activities take place in our Village Hall which was built in 1992 on the site of the existing hall, circa 1950s. The build was part funded by villagers through a &amp;lsquo;buy a brick&amp;rsquo; scheme. An extension was added in 2005 funded by various public grants and a generous bequest in the will of a local resident.

For young and old we have Spinnals Field situated next to the village hall. Purchased on behalf of the community and administered by the Parish Council, there are a variety of play areas catering for all ages, as well as a junior football pitch and basket ball hoop.

The village allotments in Plumpton End are very popular and there is currently a waiting list for a plot.

The Footpath Group is the newest society in the village. They have done sterling work in the last few years working with Northamptonshire Rights of Way to restore pathways which have become overgrown as well as installing new stiles and gates.

The village pub The Barley Mow, in existence since 1740, has recently come under new ownership. We welcome landlords Alistair Charles and Alan Read to the village.

The Vine House Restaurant owned by Julie and Marcus Springett for 17 years is a small restaurant with rooms and is listed in the Good Food Guide among others.

The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club on the High Street houses a small private museum tracing the history of this quintessentially British motor car down the years. (Even though the Rolls Royce company is now owned by BMW!) The society holds a number of rallies during the year and we are privileged to see some very beautiful vintage cars in our streets from time to time.

Like many villages our post office and village shop are no more, however, we do boast a brand new Budgens Supermarket which opened in March 2008 at the Shell Garage on the A5 - near the entrance to the village.

There is a Doctors&amp;rsquo; surgery open five days a week and we have mobile services visiting on a regular basis. They include a library, fishmonger, butcher and fish and chip van.

Click on Information for Surgery opening hours.(on left hand menu)

The village has excellent transport links via Junction 15A of the M1 approximately five miles away and the M40 is no more than 10 miles distance. There is also a regular bus service to Milton Keynes and Northampton.

Paulerspury village is adjacent to the A5 - or Watling Street as it was originally known and Boadicea fought the Romans in fields around Paulerspury and Alderton.

Alderton Mount originally a Norman ring-work castle was featured in a Time Team programme with Tony Robinson for Channel 4. Filmed in the summer of 2000 it was first aired in January 2001. The Mount is owned by a Paulerspury resident and once a year a travelling company of players perform a Shakespeare play in the natural amphitheatre. This year, 2008, they will perform Henry V on the 2nd and 3rd August.</description>
