Paulerspury

My search of the National indexes reveals that several of my family were to be found in and around Paulerspury in the mid-19th century.In particular Thomas Rogers and his wife,Mary Masom, were living there in 1851 and both subsequently died there.They were both born about 1811 or 1812, Thomas in Whittlebury and Mary in [I think]Paulerspury.

I am now trying to step back into the time before the indexes, ie before 1837.I understand that the Paulerspury Parish Regitry goes back as far as 1557.

Could someone please advise me what action I should now take in order to continue my search.
